Lady Baron Tennis Improvement Pleases Lynch

Box Score

PITTSBURGH—The Lady Baron tennis team traveled to La Roche College Saturday afternoon, defeating the Redhawks by an overall score of 5-4. It was the third Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference match for the team, and head coach Jenna Lynch was pleased with her team's performance.

"The girls are improving every match," Coach Lynch said. "I stress to them that I care much more about how they play and the intensity of their play than the outcome of the match."

This is the second year of existence of Lady Baron tennis at Franciscan University.

The Lady Barons took the doubles round with wins by the No. 1 and No. 2 teams, both finishing with scores of 8-6.

"Jen Winkle and Alanna Murray [No. 1 doubles partners] played an incredibly aggressive game," Lynch said. "Jen and Alanna played the best doubles match against La Roche that I have seen so far this season."

In the singles round, Alanna Murray, Kristina Godnick, and Hannah Pettit won in the No. 2, No. 4, and No. 6 seeds, respectively. Freshmen Hannah Pettit remains undefeated at the No. 6 singles spot.

Saturday's match leaves the Lady Barons with an overall record of 2-2 and an AMCC record of 2-1. They'll gear up for more conference play next Saturday at 1 p.m., at the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg.
