Barons Lose to Lords

Box Score

STEUBENVILLE – Franciscan University's Baron soccer team played at home on Wednesday evening, losing the game 0-3 to the Kenyon College Lords.

"The Lords were a very good and challenging team for the Barons to play," said assistant coach Billy Herrmann, "but that being said, I am proud of the guys. They came out strong and confident, playing well, especially on defense."

Tim Vander Woude, goal keeper, played a strong game, saving 12 shots on the day. The three goals scored by the Lords on the Barons were off of cross passes in front of the goal. "Blocking crosses is something the men need to work on defensively," noted Herrmann.

Evan Olsen and Joe Krilich both played strong in their prospective positions of left defender and midfielder.

Herrmann said the team can improve by, "being quick to the ball, winning every header, and making faster transitions on the field."

The Barons are now 0-3 overall. The team will travel to Geneva College on Saturday, Sept. 17, for its next game scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
