Lady Baron Volleyball to Host Breast Cancer Awareness and Fundraiser

STEUBENVILLE—Franciscan University's Lady Baron volleyball team will continue its annual breast cancer awareness and fundraising event this coming Saturday, September 17, beginning at 11 a.m. Affectionately referred to as Dig Pink, the event includes a tri-match, chances to win prizes, and free concessions. All proceeds benefit the T.E.A.R. Fund at the Tony Teramana Cancer Center.

"We are hoping to make this year's Dig Pink one that Franciscan University and the Tony Teramana Cancer Center can be proud of, while blessing those in the local community who rely on the help that is offered to them through the TEAR Fund," said head volleyball coach Kelly Herrmann.

This is the third year the Lady Barons have hosted the event. Last year brought over 150 attendants and approximately 1,000 dollars in donations to the T.E.A.R. Fund.

The volleyball teams from La Roche College and Ursuline College will take on Franciscan University for the tri-match beginning at 11 a.m. The Lady Barons versus Ursuline College will be the primary match of the day beginning at 3 p.m.

Prior to the 3 p.m. match, several cancer survivors who are a part of the University and local community will be introduced. All cancer survivors in attendance will receive a pink rose.

The pink game volleyball will be one of the raffles at the event, as well as a 50/50 and a Chinese raffle.* Donations will be accepted throughout the day. Free concessions will be offered outside the Finnegan Fieldhouse. Franciscan's student activity group, in cooperation with Graphics-In-Print, has donated 300 Dig Pink t-shirts to be given away at the event.

Please join Franciscan University's Lady Barons, representatives from the Teramana Cancer Center, local breast cancer survivors, and friends and family in this important awareness and fundraising event.
