STEUBENVILLE—The winning streak continued on Sunday for Franciscan University's Lady Baron tennis team over D'Youville College, 8-1. The victory maintains the Lady Barons' current Alleghany Mountain Collegiate Conference standing as the team with the second-best record.

"This was a really big, important conference win for us," said Lady Baron head coach Jenna Lynch. "At this point, the biggest opponent we have is ourselves; our main challenge is being consistently confident."

Jen Winkle and Alanna Murray played at the No. 1 doubles seed, Leann Roggensack and Mary O'Brien played at the No. 2 seed, and Kristina and Kaylene Godnick played at the No. 3 seed. All three sets of partners won 8-2.

In singles play, the Lady Barons secured victories in all seeds except No. 1, where Winkle lost in extended play, 6-3, 5-7, 3-6.  Murray won in two quick matches, 6-3, 6-0. Number 3 singles player Leann Roggensack won in extended play, 7-6(4), 6-4. Kristina Godnick won the No. 4 seed 6-2, 6-3. The No. 5 seed, freshman Hannah Pettit remains undefeated.

"Hannah played usual game," said assistant coach Jillian Kizewski. "She is an all-around fundamentally consistent player."

The Lady Barons hold a record of 7-1 in the AMCC and 7-2 overall. They'll gear up for non-conference play in Pittsburgh at Washington and Jefferson College on Tuesday, Sept. 27 at 4 p.m.
