Lady Barons Lose Focus and Fall to the Presidents

Box Score

STEUBENVILLE – Franciscan University women's soccer team played Washington & Jefferson College Tuesday evening, falling to the Presidents 8-0. The nonconference loss pushes the Lady Barons to a 4-4 season standing.

"The girls had a hard time getting their minds in the game this evening," said assistant coach Billy Herrmann. "The defense had trouble working together, and the midfield was not very connected to the defense or each other."

By the end of the first half, the Lady Barons were down 4-0. Looking to better their communication and passing during the second half, the Lady Barons were able to focus on utilizing their ball control. However it wasn't enough to generate the much-needed offensive energy, and the Presidents scored four more goals.

The Lady Barons took 10 shots on goal during the game, while the Presidents took 31 shots on goal on the day.

The Lady Barons host conference opponent Hilbert College this Saturday, Oct. 1, at 3 p.m.
