WASHINGTON, Pa.—The Lady Baron tennis team traveled to Washington and Jefferson College Tuesday afternoon, defeating the Presidents 6-3. Franciscan University hasn't suffered a loss in three weeks, and the seven-match winning streak is fostering opportunities for every player on head coach Jenna Lynch's team to excel.

"Lucia Nuegebaur won at No. 6 singles," Lynch said. "She's really improving in her consistency and confidence during match play."

Nuegebaur had several close games but shut out her opponent 6-0, 6-0.

Bouncing back from a loss on Sunday was No. 1 singles player Jen Winkle; she took down Washington and Jefferson's Kathryn Mioduszweski 6-4, 6-1. Number two singles seed Alanna Murray won her match in extended play 6-1, 7-5.

"Alanna [Murray] was down in the second set 1-5, and came back to win six consecutive games for the win," Lynch noted.

Also winning for the Lady Barons in singles play was No. 5 seed Hannah Pettit, who remains undefeated.

In doubles play, No. 1 seed partners Jen Winkle and Alanna Murray worked together for an 8-6 victory and Kaylene Godnick and Kristina Godnick secured a win at the No. 3 seed, 8-1.

The Lady Barons hold a record of 8-1 in the Alleghany Mountain Collegiate Conference—which positions them as the second-ranked team in the AMCC—and 8-2 overall.

The team will return to its home court at Belleview Park to face NCAA Division II opponent West Liberty University on Friday, Sept. 30, at 6 p.m.
