Box Score STEUBENVILLE, Ohio – The Franciscan University Lady Barons only trailed the Medaille Lady Mavericks by five at halftime, but lost momentum in the second half and lost, 66-38.
"The first half was what we wanted to do," said head coach Luke Heusel. "We wanted to be physical and challenge them, and we did a good job of that. We forced some turnovers. This was just a second half game."
Franciscan held a 19-18 lead partway through the first half, but was outscored by 23 in the second half en route to the loss.
"Our nemesis has been letting a couple girls get hot from three," Heusel added, "and [Joelle] Pollack [of Medaille] nailed some big threes for them." Pollack has a game-high 22 off the bench for the Lady Mavericks.
Leading the way offensively for the Barons were Hannah Flanagan with 15 points and Amy O'Keefe with 14.
"I continue to get compliments about how our girls never stop hustling," Heusel said, "and that is a great credit to them."
The Lady Barons (1-17, 1-11 AMCC) will be back in action on Wednesday, Feb. 1, at 8 p.m.
