Lamanna Reminds Barons To Keep Things In Perspective

Box Score

STEUBENVILLE, Ohio—The Franciscan University Baron basketball team continues to work on keeping a good perspective after dropping its eleventh straight game, 77-39, Saturday. The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference loss to the Hilbert College Hawks leaves the Barons 0-11 on the season.

Franciscan struggled to find the bottom of the net early on as Hilbert jumped out to a double-digit lead within minutes of the opening tip. The Barons shot just 33 percent from the field compared to Hilbert's 53 percent.

"We missed a lot of shots at the basket and it's pretty tough [to win when you do that]," said head coach John Lamanna. "What it comes down to is that we have to do a better job of finishing."

The Barons also struggled on the glass in their game against the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg earlier this week, giving up 25 offensive rebounds to the Bobcats.

Lamanna noted a positive from tonight's game; the Barons gave up only four offensive rebounds to Hilbert.

"We're staying patient," he said. "It's yet another opportunity to learn. We have to keep things in perspective: we aren't even halfway through our [season] schedule yet. There are still a lot of games to play. I'm still very optimistic."

Nolan Albrecht was the only Baron in double-digit scoring on the night, notching 11 points. Dan Kroening and Peter Mooney both added eight.

The Barons, still looking for their first win, return to their home courts tomorrow to take on D'Youville College at 1 p.m.
