Box Score 2 GROVE CITY, PA. - The Franciscan University Lady Barons started
their two week road stretch with a win against Chatham University
(25-23, 25-18, 25-11) and a loss against Grove City College (19-25,
20-25, 22-25). The Lady Barons are now 10-13 on the season. Both of
the Lady Baron's games were won or lost in three matches, and both
were down to the wire. The Lady Barons showed focus and talent as
they prepare for their post season and long road stretch.
"We played well in both matches," head coach, Kelly Herrmann,
said.
The Lady Barons were able to play competitively against both
opponents even during a rotation switch to accommodate an
injury.
"Lara (Holley) got the chance to play outside hitter for us so
that Maria (Prezzia) could rest her ankle," Herrmann said about the
injury situation.
Holley played well in her new position, earning four kills and
eight assists on offense against Chatham University. Defensively,
she was able to rack up seven digs to save her team from losing
close game against Chatham. She was also able to defend well
against Grove City with nine digs for her squad.
Amy O'Keefe set a career milestone on Saturday, surpassing the
1,000 assist mark for her college career. She had 24 assists in the
Lady Baron win against Chatham. She then out did herself with a
strong outing against Grove City; totaling 25 assists.
The rest of the Lady Baron squad played strong. Offensively,
Dani Link had 20 kills on the day and senior, Anna Cain, dominated
with 28 kills against their two opponents. Defensively, the Lady
Barons played with a lot of focus. Sam Kelly recorded 31 digs Clare
Prezzia recorded 13 digs, and Holley had 16 digs.
The Lady Barons are now focused to continue their road games.
The next game is against Altoona on October 17.
