Turnovers Plague Barons in Loss to Behrend

Box Score

STEUBENVILLE, Ohio – The Franciscan University Barons struggled protecting the ball as they committed 20 turnovers on the night, en route to a 55-35 loss to Penn State Behrend.

"Behrend is an extremely well-coached team," FUS head coach John Lamanna said. "They play sound, solid basketball and that is really the difference [between us and them.] We're still working on getting to that level."

The Barons were down 37-14 at halftime after allowing Behrend to close the first half on an 18-5 run.

"We got more aggressive in the second half," Lamanna added. "We were able to rebound the ball a little better; we did a better job of putting pressure on the ball as well as guarding the basketball. I was pleased with how competitive we were winning the second half. We just have to figure out how to not create deficits."

Franciscan outscored the Lions 21-18 in the second half.

The Barons were led by Nolan Albrecht who notched his season average of 15 points and eight rebounds on the night. Chipping in for Franciscan was Peter Mooney with nine points.

Finnegan Fieldhouse will be the site for senior night on Wednesday, Feb. 15, as the Barons host La Roche College at 6 p.m.
