Box Score BUFFALO, N.Y.— After a disappointing loss to La Roche Wednesday during their last home game of the season, the Franciscan University Lady Barons finished the 2011-2012 season with a 64-50 win over D'Youville College Saturday afternoon.
"The girls are excited about this win," said head coach Luke Heusel. "We grew throughout the season and we did some things better as a team and had better defense overall today. This is a great way to finish the season and we look forward to continuing to build on this next year.
Heusel said the key to the win was that the offense started off strong. The Lady Barons finished the first half 42-27.
The Lady Barons we able to carry the strong defense into the second half. "The game did not get closer than 12 points in the second half," said Heusel. "We were able to keep it going."
Another key to the game was rebounds. The Lady Barons had 52 rebounds on the day as opposed to D'Youville's 36.
Freshman Amy O'Keefe had 17 points and eight rebounds on the day. Sophomore Hannah Flannagan had 10 points and five rebounds. Seniors Christine Conrad and Kristin Belleque had had nine points and nine rebounds and 7 points and 12 rebounds on the day respectively.
The Lady Barons finish the season 3-21 overall and 3-15 in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference.
