Lady Barons Continue To Struggle

STEUBENVILLE, Ohio—The Franciscan University Lady Baron softball team faced Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference foe La Roche College in an afternoon doubleheader  on Thursday, and dropped both games, 14-0 and 11-3, respectively.

The struggles came on the defensive side of the ball for Franciscan in game one as they committed eleven errors while only surrendering five hits to the visiting Lady Red Hawks. The Barons only got one hit on the evening, that being an Amelia Gallagher single in the third.

In the second game of the afternoon, La Roche jumped on FUS pitcher Amanda Ruwart early, tagging her for four runs on five hits. However, the home team bounced back for three runs of their own in the first inning on four straight hits to start the bottom of the first.

Those three runs would be the only three the Lady Barons would score in game two, while La Roche tacked on seven more.

Mallori Linscomb was 1-3 in game two, with a two-RBI double. Also recording hits for the Lady Barons were Rosemary Cassidy, Daniella Pillar, Michelle Volk, Allyson White, and Ruwart.

Franciscan, now 0-22 on the season, travels to upstate New York Saturday, April 14 for a doubleheader against Hilbert College.
