Box Score BETHANY, W. Va. -- The Franciscan University Lady Barons were swept for a second straight night as they lost 3-0 to Bethany College Tuesday night. Franciscan lost 15-25, 16-25, and 13-25. The injury plagued Lady Barons are now 5-7 on the season.
"Tonight we shuffled around positions and tried different offensive moves," FUS head coach Kelly Herrmann said. "We learned a lot and found an answer."
The Lady Barons could not get momentum against a tough Bison team. They found their points come in spurts, but never sustained any constant offense. Even so, Herrmann is confident in her team and excited about her offensive outside hitters.
"Overall, we are in a good place. Maria [Prezzia] was hitting really well. It's nice to have strong outside hitters. We will be working on some outside help for Lara [Holley]. We will be ready for conference play," Herrmann said.
Offensively, Christina Lawrence and Dani Link had five kills each. Defensively, Sam Kelly had eight digs and Amy O'Keefe had seven digs.
Herrmann stressed that this season is not over and the how important it is not to let a 0-3 week to get her team down.
"Our season is a sprint, not a marathon," Herrmann said. "This week was tough, but we have to pick ourselves back up again. I know we will."
The Lady Barons start conference play this Saturday against Medaille College and Penn State-Behrend when they host an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference quad-match. Franciscan will take on Medaille at 10 a.m. and Behrend at 4 p.m.
