Box Score STEUBENVILLE, Ohio - The Lady Baron tennis team beat defending
conference champions Penn State Behrend 7-2, continuing the team's
undefeated conference record.
All three of the Lady Barons doubles teams beat their opponents,
and four out of six singles players won their matches. The girls
were calm and confident, against the top team in the conference
last season.
"Today was a very big match because Penn State Behrend was
Conference Champs last year", head coach Jenna Lynch said. "The
girls knew that this would be one of their tougher conference
matches, but it didn't seem to phase them much."
No. 3 singles player freshman Caeles Crunkleton Wilson won an
intense match 6-4, 6-7, (3-7), (10-2). The stands were silent as
the match went into a double tiebreaker. Both girls were tired but
determined to win.
Coach Lynch is proud of her team and the progress they are
showing.
"We talked all week about refocusing ourselves and recommitting
to making the most of each match and practice", Lynch said. "As we
round out the season with our last few weeks I'll be asking the
girls to maintain a high level of intensity and encourage them to
avoid taking anything for granted."
Tomorrow at 10:00 AM the Lady Barons play Mt. Aloysius, another
top team in the conference. If Franciscan wins they will have
finished the season with an undefeated record in conference
play.
"The girls will have to come out strong, confident and
aggressive to secure another win", Lynch said.
