Inconsistency Plagues Barons in Loss

CRESSON, Pa - The Franciscan University basketball team lost to Mount Aloysius College 81-60. The Barons could not power through a dominant first half from the Mounties who scored 50 points by the halftime break. Franciscan also gave up 21 offensive rebounds and committed 19 turnovers.

"We played hard for forty minutes," head coach John Lamanna said. "We were just too inconsistent."

The Barons consistency issues were most prevalent in their offense. FUS scored in bunches, falling down 10-0 within the first three minutes. At the 14 minute mark, the Barons came within four points with a score of 14-10, but could not sustain their offense. Franciscan fell 50-34 by the end of the half.

Guard, Justin Horstman, scored a team high 25 points for the Barons and added four steal. Freshman forward, Donovan Zeugierski, played hard scoring eight points, grabbing six rebounds, and adding four blocks before he fouled out.

"Donovan was really aggressive tonight," Lamanna said. "It was great to see him come out like that."

Block leader, Joe Rine, collected three blocks against the Mounties. Currently, he is ranked fifth in NCAA Division III for blocks per game at 3.35.

The Barons will play their last game of the season against the University of Pitt-Bradford on Feb 16 at 3 pm.
