Noce, McClelland Each Score Two For Lady Barons

BEREA, Ohio - Franciscan women's lacrosse fell to the Baldwin Wallace Yellow Jackets by a final score of 10-4. Despite the loss, head coach Maura Conant said she was pleased with how competitive the team played and the team objectives they've reached.

"We set a goal to have over 25 minutes of possession," Conant said. "We had over 28, which is almost half of the game, so it was competitive."

The increase in possession time led to a better goal total than their last game. Attacker Tracy McClelland and midfielder Lauren Noce took advantage of the possession time with McClelland and Noce each scored two goals for the Barons.

With less than two minutes left in the first half, McClelland put the Lady Barons on the board with an unassisted goal. Then, with 37 seconds left, Noce scored the team's second goal off of an assist from fellow midfielder Shannon Root.

Eight minutes into the second half, Noce scored again to pull Francican within 4. Baldwin Wallace went on a run from there until McClelland scored the final goal of the game with four minutes remaining.

New goalie Bethany Potvin and defender Madeline Eichman both did well. Potvin had 18 saves on 28 faced shots, while Eichman worked well with Potvin on effective clears.

"Beth did really well. It's really good when a goalie has more saves than goals allowed, " Conant said. "Maddie did a great job participating with clears and running the ball to the sidelines."

Conant was also optimistic about the Lady Barons' performance against Baldwin Wallace, which is another first year program.

"It's encouraging because we're kind of where everybody else is," Conant said.

The Lady Barons will be on the road again Tuesday, April 9, against Walsh at 6:30 p.m.
