Lady Baron Tennis Loses Close Conference Match

Box Score

STEUBENVILLE, Ohio—Following their strong start against University of Pitt-Bradford, Lady Baron's Tennis lost 4-5 in their second game of the season at Penn St.-Behrend.

Despite the loss, Head Coach Jenna Lynch remained positive and said she was proud pride of the young 2013 Lady Barons team.

"It was very good for the team," Lynch said. "It's going to help us in the long run in terms of growing from it, learning from it and being more well-rounded players."

Lynch made some changes to the lineup to give more members of her young team varied experience by putting them in different scenarios. All but two of Franciscan's singles matches were played by freshman and the Lady Barons were missing the presence of returning player, and usual no. 1 singles player, Caeles Crunkleton-Wilson.

"I'm not disappointed whatsoever," Lynch said. "They played with integrity and did exactly what I asked them to do."

With a team primarily made up of freshman, The Lady Baron's face a lot of pressure and mental challenges, particularly in back-to-back games. However, Lynch said the girls continue to work hard on developing as a team and improving their individual skills.

Lynch looks forward to the rest of the season with confidence that the team will continue to grow.

"For our second match, I was incredibly proud of the mental stamina and the mental challenges they persevered through," Lynch said. "We're going to continue to be challenged as a young team and that's a lot more valuable than just winning every time."

The Lady Barons will play their first home game of the season on September 7th against Medaille College at 2pm.
