Lady Barons Fall to John Carroll

Box Score

In their third match of a long weekend, the Lady Barons lost 9-0 to John Carroll University. Playing strong for the Lady Barons was Caeles Crunkleton-Wilson.

"It was a frustrating loss, but fruitful nonetheless," Head Coach Jenna Lynch said.

As a young team of many players new to the NCAA, the Lady Barons are still adapting to the program and to each other as a team, making this 2013 season one full of pressure and mental challenges.

"It has a lot to do with the mental battles their going through as a new team in a new program," Lynch said. "They're still figuring out each other as doubles partners, and figuring out their own games more. On top of that there's the competitive pressure."

Despite losing the match 6-8, sophomore Caeles Crunkleton-Wilson brought a high level of intensity and skilled reactions to the net in her no. 1 doubles slot.

"Her doubles net game was tremendous. She was so reactive at the net and so on top of her net returns," Lynch said. "Her reaction time and her focus was the best I've ever seen in her Franciscan career so far."

The Lady Barons will close the weekend tomorrow with a match against Mt. Aloysius College. Lynch hopes to remain positive and to bring a high level of energy to the match, especially since it's the fourth match of the weekend.

"They started out with a great level of energy today, and we have to make sure that we do that again tomorrow," Lynch said. "The opponent is going to be ready for good competition tomorrow, so it's important that we're ready as well."
