Lack of Execution In Lady Baron Loss

STEUBENVILLE, Ohio—Frustration continues to mount for the Franciscan Lady Barons  as they fell to La Roche College, 19-0 and 8-0. While Franciscan remained aggressive, head coach Jen Parker said that execution is the problem right now.

Coach Parker said she was disappointed with the number of errors, bad throws and miscommunication.

"It was just an issue of executing on the field and in the batters box," Parker said. "And we did neither."

While Coach Parker said she was pleased with her team's practices in recent days, she was in no mood to sugar coat her team's performance.

"They practice great," Parker said. "And we come on the field and we're not executing the way we are in practice."

A lot of the frustration, Parker said, comes from seeing her team develop in practice and not being able to translate that to game day.

"It's basically a head game at this point and until they get it out of their heads and decide they are going to win," Parker said. "We're going to have these same struggles."

The Lady Barons looked once again to their senior third baseman, Mallori Linscomb, to hold back the Redhawk attack. In game two, during the bottom of the fourth, Linscomb executed on a double play and rounded off the inning with the third out.

At different points in the games the players perform and execute well but the consistentcy is lacking. However, Parker said that she believes in her team to go on and continue to improve.

"We know we're better than this, and we just have to execute and show everybody else that we're better than what we put up on the board," Parker said.

The Lady Barons will have another chance to show better execution when they hit the road to face Grove City on April 21, at 3:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.
