Box Score 2 HAMBURG, NY. —The Lady Barons dropped both games of their season finale versus Hilbert College, 6-1 and 13-0. Franciscan University battled, but continued their struggles in the batters box.
Junior pitcher Ashley Ruttencutter took the mound to start things off in game one and played the entire game for the Lady Barons. She was able to keep the score down and help her team remain competitive into the seventh inning.
Head coach Jennifer Parker said that her team played well, but did not do as well in the batters box as she would have liked. The Lady Barons struck out six times at 23 at bats.
"We didn't fair as well in the batters box as I would have hoped," Parker said. "We kept a couple of runners stranded."
Not only was this the final two games, but also for the seniors, it was their last time suiting up for the Lady Barons. Coach Parker was pleased with the way her seniors performed.
"The seniors played a really good game for their last games of the season," Parker said. "But it wasn't enough to bring home the win."
Game two brought two pitchers, Serra Alongi and Eloise Rover. The struggles in this game came early on, with the Lady Barons allowing two unearned runs, and walked three batters, giving the Hawks the opportunity to hit a grand slam that sealed the deal.
With their eye on the future, coach Parker said that she was excited for what the future holds.
"We have a good group coming back," Parker said. "They're a really close knit team."
