Lady Barons Fall to Penn State Behrend

Box Score

Erie, Pa. -The Franciscan women's soccer visited Penn St. Behrend on this raining Saturday, where the Lady Barons fell 5-0. This game dropped the Barons' record 5-5 for the season, and 1-2 in the conference.

The Barons posted seven shots with three hitting goal. They only had one corner kick opportunity, which in previous games has been a strong point for the Barons. Freshman goalie Sarah Luebking, recently named ECAC Rookie of the week, pulled in five saves and was scored on five times.

"Sarah was a major strength for us, even though they scored on her five times.   We are still a young offense and we couldn't convert our opportunities like they did," head coach Clare McBane commented on the loss.

Penn St. Behrend capitalized on the FUS mistakes and less numbers when they tried to build an attack. The Lions snuck through the defense with quickness, power and accuracy. Jordan Oberlander scored the first point of the match with an assist by Alex Bilka. Bilka then added two goals later in the game assisted by Olivia Belack and Oberlander. Beleck also scored with help from Rachel Weyand.

The Barons are continuing to build their in-game chemistry and hoping to improve and fix their missed opportunities and mistakes.  FUS will continue with its conference play on October 7 when the Lady Barons host Penn State Altonna at 4:15. PSA enters the contest 2-7 on the year and 1-1 in the AMCC.
