NEWVILLE, Pa. – The men's and women's cross country teams ran in the last race of the season today at the NCAA DIII Mideast Regional, with the men's team taking 29th, while the women snagged 36th place.
In the women's 6k, sophomore Deirdre Coyle once again led the Lady Barons with a time of 24:32.5, earning her 115th place overall. Freshman Angela Penza was the next to score for Franciscan with freshman Emily Theurer right behind her. They placed 170th and 176th with times of 25:45.3 and 25:52.0, respectively.
Other notable runners were Lauren Schubilske and Therese Thomason who took 257th and 266th with times of 27:32.9 and 27:59.2, respectively.
In the men's 8k, sophomore Graham Martin led a close pack of Baron runners to the finish line with 139th place and a time of 28:00.1. Not far behind him were four more Barons also within the 28-minute mark.
Freshman Nick Long was the second of Franciscan's scoring runners with a time of 28:36.8 and a place of 186th. After him came freshman Grady Stuckman with 199th place and a time of 28:45.6.
The fourth and fifth scoring runners for Franciscan were sophomores John Redmond and Tim Jackson, placing 206th and 209th with times of 28:56.4 and 28:58.1 respectively.
