Lady Barons Compete at Cabrini

RADNOR, Pa.- The Lady Barons swim team saw improvement from several of their swimmers, but were unable to prevail in a tri-meet falling to both Cabrini College and Bethany College with scores of 118-58 and 75-74 respectively.

Elizabeth McNulty put in one of her usual performances taking first place in both the 200-yard IM and the 200-yard butterfly. She finished the first of the two races in a time of 2:24.21, edging second place by less than a second.

Kellie Rankin, while usually a diver, did her work in the pool taking fourth place in the 200-yard freestyle. She immediately followed that by taking third place in the 50-yard freestyle.

Emily Allsteadt competed for the last time this season, as she will be studying abroad next semester. She showed improvement in her distance swimming taking third in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 6:32.23, two seconds faster then her previous time.

"With all the yardage that she swam last night it's amazing that she was able to improve her time," said head coach Cassandra Pyle. "Emily is a natural leader on the team and we are all going to miss her when she's gone."

Pyle noted that all of her swimmers have been improving their times throughout the season. Whether or not they place, each girl has been shaving off seconds, said Pyle.

"For the rest of the semester our practices are going to be intense and focused on improving form and endurance," said Pyle. "We're really going to try and figure out what the best events are for each girl."

The Lady Barons have some time off before their next meet at Bethany College January 9.
