Box Score BRADFORD, Pa. - Franciscan women's basketball dropped its second consecutive AMCC contest on the road to Pitt.-Bradford 80-45.
"We were humbled today," head coach Suzy Delaney said. "We were not ready to play at the tip and we dug ourselves a hole. Also, we you shoot as poorly as we did, it makes all the other areas of the game have to be perfect."
Pitt.-Bradford scored nine points in the first four minutes of the game before the Lady Barons got on the scoreboard with a three-pointer by senior guard Monica Dawyot. Led by sophomore guard and reigning AMCC Player of the Week Ali Rinfrette's eight points in the first quarter, Franciscan trailed by 14 points to start the second quarter.
A three-pointer to open the quarter put the Panthers up by 17 points before the Lady Barons settled in defensively, only allowing five more points the rest of the quarter. Franciscan outscored Bradford 10-8 in the second quarter with a halftime score of 29-17.
"The girls really battled back in that second quarter and I was proud of that effort, but we were not able to sustain it the whole 40 minutes," Delaney said.
Pitt.-Bradford built up a 20-point lead in the third quarter that the Panthers did not relinquish for the rest of the game. Rinfrette led the Panthers with a double-double of 20 points and 13 rebounds.
For the Lady Barons, sophomore guard Sarah Schriner and senior guard Iliana Gonzales led the team with 12 points each while Gonzales also tied senior forward/guard Stephanie Pahren for team leader in rebounds with nine.
Gonzales has been the leader or co-leader in points scored for each of the Lady Barons six games this season.
The Lady Barons will seek their first conference win when they play host to Hilbert College at home on Saturday, December 12, at 4 p.m.
