HARAH, Pa. - The Franciscan women's tennis team cruised to a 9-0 win over Medaille to open Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference action, Saturday afternoon.

"It's great to get the first win. We have a tough weekend coming up so to get this win is good," remarked head coach Jeremy Ellis. "I wish we had more time to get ready, but this win will help us get ready."

Freshman Maria Binette was once again dominant at the No. 1 singles match as well as No. 1 doubles with senior Renata Crespo.

"Maria is playing great tennis. She is getting better with each match which is great to see."

Freshman Julia Razook also took her No. 3 singles match to help the freshman class dominance.

"We have a really strong freshman class which adds to our depth. I think our young talent helps us be harder to scout."

The Lady Barons took all three doubles matches but coach Ellis knows there's room for improvement.

"Once we get our doubles together, we will be a hard team to beat."

The Lady Barons take on Penn State Behrend in a crucial AMCC match next Friday in Behrend, Pa.
