BRADFORD, Pa. – The Franciscan volleyball team dropped a pair of 3-2 matches Saturday. The Lady Barons fell to AMCC opponent, Pitt.-Bradford, 3-2, before a comeback fell just short to Houghton and Franciscan dropped a 3-2 match to the Highlanders.

"We won the first two games against Bradford, playing with a lot of confidence and being really aggressive, but we started to struggle in some spots but kept battling," remarked head coach Kelly Herrmann. "We played right with Bradford and did a lot of things really well. We're close and we're not there yet."

After dropping the first two games against Houghton, the Lady Barons battled back and won the next two to tie the match at 2-2.

"The girls were really tired and I am so proud of them for coming back and battling back in the third and fourth set."

"Mary Moore did a great job playing libero in the third game. For the kind of just throwing her in there and her not playing libero before, she is obviously going to improve but she is just an aggressive defender and when she is on the court, our team has a different level of confidence defensively and she did a really great job in the Houghton match."

"I think Rachel Potopa and Becca Haven did a really nice job setting all day and we had a lot of really good attacks. We hit the ball at Houghton a lot and they dug a lot of balls. We just need to keep working on our consistency."

"It was a tough day but in some ways, it was a good day and I am really proud of the girls for battling back as hard as they did."

Full stats will be available in the near future.

The Lady Barons return home next Saturday as they host Geneva at 1pm.
