Box Score BRADFORD, Pa. – The Franciscan women's soccer team suffered a tough 1-0 loss to Pitt.-Bradford on Saturday.
The Lady Barons and Panthers were knotted after 45 minutes of tough play where neither team could pull away. Freshman keeper Glorianne Trippe came up with four big saves in the first to keep UPB off of the board. In just her second game back, Elizabeth Krilich put a good ball on net but Sarah Dailey turned her away just as she turned away Megan Riederer about midway through the first.
Riederer opened the second with a hard shot but was blocked and the Panthers gained possession. UPB broke the scoreless tie just six minutes into the half as Grace Dadzaa collected a pass from Abbey Kalin and shot it from the left post about 10 yards out and curled it into the far corner to give the Panthers a 1-0 lead.
The Lady Barons put three more shots on goal over the next eight minutes but could not find the back of the net.
Trippe made a pair of saves in the final 30 minutes to keep the game close but the offense could not capitalize on opportunities to tie the game. The Lady Barons had two shots in the final two minutes sandwiched around a corner kick.
"We did a good job building in the middle of the field, we just have to finish our opportunities," remarked head coach Clare McBane.
"The good news is we are learning and getting better, we just really need to put it all together."
The Lady Barons look to rebound as they host Mount Aloysius on Tuesday at 2pm.
