Box Score STEUBENVILLE - It was a tale of two halves for the Franciscan men's basketball team but the second half surge wasn't enough as Penn State Behrend walked away with a 85-48 win over the Barons, Saturday afternoon.
The Lions scored nine of the game's first 11 points and built a 20-5 lead over the first eight minutes and never looked back. A jumper from sophomore Richard Cross cut the deficit back to 13 at 10:59 but PSB hit back-to-back threes to push the lead back to 19, 26-7. Senior Christian Duke and sophomore Thomas Rush hit back-to-back threes for the Barons to cut the lead in half, 26-13. The Lions used an 11-0 run to take a 37-13 lead, which would be as close as the Barons would get as the Lions took a 43-17 lead into the locker room.
Franciscan doubled its score in the second half, scoring 31 of its 48 points for the game but the Lions remained steady with 42 points in the second for a solid win.
Duke led the Barons with 12 points while junior Jacob Divens handed out three assists.
The Barons host Penn State Altoona on Wednesday at 6:00 pm.
