Box Score 2 ERIE, Pa. – The Franciscan softball team dropped a pair of AMCC contests to Penn State Behrend, Saturday afternoon. The Lady Barons fell 8-0 in the opening game before losing 19-0 in the night cap.
The Lions (11-9, 3-2 AMCC) took control of the first game with a five-run third inning while not allowing a hit to the Lady Barons. Sophomore Lindsey Finch broke up the no-hitter in the top of the fourth by leading off with a single down the left field line. Cecilia Lademan took Finch's place in the base paths after hitting into a fielder's choice and promptly stole second to put a runner in scoring position with one out. After senior Iliana Gonzales drew a walk to put two on, Renee Shumay hit into a fielder's choice and the Lions got their third out, not allowing a runner past second.
The Lions capped the first game's scoring with a run in the bottom of the fifth to end the game at 8-0.
The Lions scored a run in every inning of the second game, including 11 in the fourth while the Lady Barons were unable to reach base and Alexa Bupp threw a perfect game for the Lions.
Franciscan hosts Pitt.-Greensburg on Tuesday for a 3:30 doubleheader.
