Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

Steubenville, OH- The Franciscan softball team fell to Penn. St-Altoona in a pair of Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conferece games this afternoon. The Lady Barons struggled to put runs on the boardas the visitors won 12-2 in the first game and 10-0 in the nightcap.

"We struggled with focusing. We need to start the games more focused and just play ball." Coach Walker remarked.

The Barons runs came in the bottom of the fifth inning during the first game. Kelsey Cornelio started off the last attempt to score when she walked. Colleen McInerney singled up the middle to put two runners on base.  Therese Wood doubled home Cornelio before Lindsay Finch hit a sacrifice fly to the center fielder, bringing Anna Ames around who had reached on a fielder's choice. The scoring was not enough to overtake Altoona's lead and the game ended 12-2 in favor of PSA.

The second game fared no better for the Barons as Altoona's pitcher, Kate Burge, threw a no hitter with eight strikeouts to lead the Lions to a 10-0 win. The Lady Barons had two especially great defensive plays. Iliana Gonzales made a diving catch in center to close out the top of the second inning. In the top of the fourth, Ames pulled off an unassisted double play when she snagged a line drive out of the air and stepped on third catching the runner off guard.

The Lady Barons' games on Saturday have now been moved to Sunday April 10th starting at 1pm. The game will be held at D'Youville College field against Medaille.
