Box Score 2 BUFFALO, N.Y. - The Franciscan women's tennis team picked up a pair of conference wins as the Lady Barons defeated D'Youville 8-1 to open the day and swept Medaille, 9-0, to close out the day in New York.
The Lady Barons swept their way through doubles against D'Youville and only dropped one match in singles. Madelyn Conrad fell at No. 1 singles but played a hard match and took it took a tie break.
"Madelyn really showed some mental toughness to play as hard as she did today," remarked head coach Jeremy Ellis. "That's what you want to see from your freshman." Conrad came out against Medaille, the team's second match of the day, and won both matches to rebound from an earlier singles loss.
The Lady Barons capped their day with a sweep of Medaille to kick off conference action, 2-0 and improve to 3-0 on the year.
Franciscan hosts La Roche on Sunday at 2:30pm.
