Lady Barons Drop Heartbreaker to Chatham

STEUBENVILLE – The Franciscan women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 heartbreaker to Chatham, Saturday afternoon.

Chatham broke the 0-0 tie late in the second half after Megan Sieg dribbled around the defense and crossed it into the net from the left.

The Lady Barons had several scoring opportunities in the first half but the Chatham goalie made five saves in the first 45 to keep FUS off the board.

Sophomore Sarah Luebking made two saves in the opening period but posted seven in the second to keep the game close for the Lady Barons.

Chatham out-shot the Lady Barons 21-11 and held a 4-1 advantage in corner kicks as well.

Junior Anna McCarthy led the Lady Barons with three shots, two on goal.

The Franciscan women's soccer team travels to Waynesburg on Monday at 6pm to wrap up the non-conference schedule.
