Box Score STEUBENVILLE – The Franciscan women's tennis team battled a tough Grove City squad Wednesday night but fell 8-1 to the Wolverines at Belleview Courts.
The bright spot for the Lady Barons was No. 3 doubles tonight as Maggie Vander Woude and Taranee Karimpour combined for a 9-8 win after a hard fought 7-4 tie-break.
Freshman Madelyn Conrad battled a tough opponent at No. 1 singles but could not overcome her Wolverine counterpart and dropped the match, 6-4, 6-3.
Sophomore Maria Binette played a tight No. 2 singles match against Janine Jones but the Wolverine walked away with a 6-3, 6-4 win to help Grove City to a 8-1 win.
The Lady Barons have the day off tomorrow before facing Penn St.-Behrend on Friday at Belleview at 4:30pm.
