Barons Power Past Grove City, Win 69-14

GROVE CITY, Pa. - The Franciscan rugby team came out on fire and rolled to a 69-14 win over Grove City to remain perfect in the 3RRC.

The Barons quickly jumped out to a 26-0 lead before Grove City got on the board with a successful try and conversion to cut the lead to 26-7. Both teams scored another try before the half and FUS led 31-14 at the break.

"We played good open field rugby tonight and our set pieces are really improving," commented head coach Dan Kramer. "The guys are really understanding how to play the game and playing to the standard of rugby that we as coaches as expect from them. We came out fighting and hitting hard tonight from the very beginning and it really set the tone for the rest of the game."

Franciscan held the Wolverines scoreless in the second half while adding 35 more points to the score to roll to a 69-14 win.

"Tonight, all 15 guys on the field played good head's up rugby and made good decisions for a full 80 minutes. The starting 15 played well and all of the rookies really stood out. I was able to put in a lot of rookies and they kept the level of play where I expected it to be. Everyone kept the standard of rugby at a high-level tonight."

For his efforts on the field and his pair of tries, Jacob "J Bizzle" Borden was named the Man of the Match.

Franciscan returns home next week as the Barons host Point Park for a 1pm match. The weekend also marks Franciscan Rugby Alumni Weekend and the Hall of Fame Induction of Niall "Papa" O'Mahony.
