WASHINGTON, Pa. – Sophomore Nick Long led the Franciscan men's cross country team to a second-place finish at the Washington & Jefferson Invite, Friday evening.
Long took sixth overall with a time of 29:06.44, and was the fastest AMCC runner to cross the line. Today was the second race in a row that Long led the Barons and is his third-fastest time of the season.
Right on Long's heels was freshman Matthew Crotteau. Crotteau took seventh overall and the only other Baron to finish in the top-10 with a time of 29:07.29 on Friday. Patrick Tansill and Grady Stuckman took 19th and 20th for the Barons with times of 30:05.73 and 30:09.98. Tim Jackson took 28th with a time of 30:52.92 to help the Barons to a second-place finish on Friday.
Will Blackley was the sixth Baron to cross the finish line and took 37th place with a time of 31:35.00 while James Sarlo was the final scoring runner for FUS with a 58th place time of 35:51.21. Emmett Delaney narrowly missed scoring with a time of 35:52.22.
The Barons take next week off but will host the Ninth Annual Kelly Roggensack Run on Oct. 8. There is still time to register here.
Franciscan will return to action on Oct. 15 as the runners head to the Oberlin Invite.
