OBERLIN, Ohio – Posting some of their best times of the season, the Franciscan men's cross country team finished eighth out of 31 teams at the Inter-Regional Rumble hosted by Oberlin, Saturday. The Barons were the top AMCC at the meet.
Turning in his second-fastest time of the season, freshman Liam Galligan took 24th place with a time of 26:04.2 and was the fastest AMCC runner at the meet, beating the top runner from Penn St.-Behrend by five seconds. Freshman Mark Borek posted a career-best time by 32 seconds as he finished 47th overall with a time of 26:40.3.
Junior Grady Stuckman had an impressive race as he finished 54th overall with a time of 26:46.4, his career-best time by about 40 seconds. Following closely behind, junior Nick Long turned his best time of the season with a 71st place finish at 26:59.4.
Sophomore Matthew Crotteau shaved three seconds off of his career best with a time of 27:03.2, good enough for 79th overall. Freshman Athanasius Sirilla posted a career-best time of 27:43.8 to take 125ht overall for the Barons. Freshman JP Soulliere finished with his second-fastest time of the season with a time of 29:30.0 to round out the scoring runners for Franciscan at 209th overall.
Senior Will Blackley ran in his first race of the season and finished 229th overall with a time of 30:32.9 while freshman Luke McCarthy ran in his first race as a Baron and posted a time of 31:27.7. Senior James Sarlo recorded his second-fastest time of the year with a time of 32:29.8.
The Barons will take next week off as they prepare for the 2017 AMCC Championships. The championship meet will be held on October 28 at Hilbert College.
