ANGOLA, NY – The Franciscan women's cross country team overcame rainy and cold conditions for an impressive second-place finish at the 2017 AMCC Championship meet, Saturday afternoon.
Penn St.-Behrend captured the overall title with 15 points while Franciscan came in second with 54. D'Youville rounded out the top-three teams with 93 points.
Leading the way for Franciscan was the 2016 AMCC Newcomer of the Year, Grace Galligan. Galligan took sixth overall with a time of 24:46, less than 20 seconds behind the fifth-place runner. Senior Deirdre Coyle was right behind as she took seventh overall at 24:59. Junior Bernadette Williams rounded out the all-conference runners for the Lady Barons as she took eighth overall with a time of 25:08.
Freshman Mary Grayson took 17th overall as she finished a time of 27:44 while Morgan Litterer was right on her heels with a time of 27:45 and an 18th-place finish. Francesca Santos finished 24th overall with a time of 28:13 while Harper LaFond rounded out the scoring runners for Franciscan with a 28th place finish at 28:32.
The Barons look to continue this momentum as they compete in the NCAA Mid-East regional in Newville, PA on November 11.
