Barons Fall to Hilbert on the Road

Box Score

BUFFALO, NY- The Franciscan men's basketball team shot 50.0% from the floor but Hilbert used a strong second half to defeat the Barons 91-73 at home on Saturday.

Freshman Matt Trent and junior Keoni Sablan combined for 43 points but the Hilbert offense was just a little too much for Franciscan.

The Barons kept it close for most of the first half and trailed by just six at the half, 41-35. The Hawks kicked it into high gear in the second half and ran away with a 50-38 period to seal the 91-73 win.

"Matt is still learning to play with his size," remarked head coach Joe Wallace. "He has only been with us for a month and is already making a big impact. He has certainly not hit his ceiling."

Trent finished with 22 points behind going 10-for-12 from the floor and pulled down eight rebounds. Sablan finished with 21 points, three assists and a steal.

"Keoni has played well the last could of games. He's doing great with off the ball plays and is a guy that is just continuing to get better ."

The Barons return home on Wednesday to host Pitt.-Greensburg at 8pm.
