Box Score BUFFALO, NY – The Franciscan women's lacrosse team struggled to get its offensive going Medaille Mavericks, Saturday evening, and fell 12-4 on the road.
Trailing 2-0 after the first 10 minutes of the first half, Elizabeth Dawyot got the Lady Barons on the board with her first goal of the game. After a clear attempt by the Mavericks failed, the Lady Barons had their try at clearing the ball and were successful. Dawyot took the ball to the cage herself to cut the lead down 2-1 with 20:02 to play.
The Mavericks then went on a 3-0 run over the next 14 minutes to extend their lead to 5-1. Dawyot scored her second of the game with 4:21 to play. After a Medaille turnover, Dawyot picked up the groundball to kick off a good clear. Dawyot then kicked off a clear for the Lady Barons that ended with Carly McDonald passing the ball back to Dawyot for the goal.
The Mavericks closed out the half with a goal with 46 seconds left to send the teams into the break with the score 6-2 in favor of Medaiile.
The Mavericks scored the half's first three goals before Dawyot completed her hat trick and junior Mary Krolicki finished off a free position shot to get the Lady Barons to within five, 9-4, with 18:42 to play.
Medaille scored the game's final three goals as the Mavericks walked away with a 12-4 win.
Dawyot scored three goals for the Lady Barons while sophomore keeper Brittany Bain made 13 saves in net. Bain and the Lady Baron defense held the Mavericks to their lowest goal total of the season.
Franciscan continues its trip to Buffalo as the Lady Barons take on Hilbert tomorrow at 2pm.
