PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Franciscan men's track and field team kicked off the outdoor season with a strong showing at the Carnegie Mellon 5 Team Invitational, Saturday.
The 4x400-meter relay team of Carlo Fabian, James Craig, John Tysz, and Joseph Gallagher broke the FUS school record set in 2016. The team ran an impressive 3:42.12, breaking the record by 2.84 and capturing a fourth-place finish.
The same relay team, this time anchored by Craig and featuring senior Ben Erste, took first in the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 44.38.
Individually, Fabian posted a pair of top-six finishes for the Barons. Fabian took fifth in the 200-meter dash (23.97) and in the 400-meter run (53.97). Craig finished third in the 400-meter run (52.29) and Gallagher captured sixth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:03.12.
The Barons look to build on this showing next weekend at the Bethany Invite.
