Barons Take Fourth at Notre Dame

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Freshman Liam Galligan led the Franciscan men's cross country team to a fourth-place finish at the 2017 National Catholic Invitational, hosted by Notre Dame University, Friday afternoon.

Running on a week's rest, Galligan continued to impress in his freshman campaign for the Barons as he took 15th overall with a time of 26:56.8, a 5:23.4 mile. Not far behind him was reining AMCC Runner of the Week, Mark Borek. Borek crossed the line at 27:23.2 to take 21st overall.

Junior Nicholas Long, freshman Anthanasius Sirilla, sophomore Matthew Crotteau, and junior Grady Stuckman ran in a closely knit pack for much of the race and all finished within six seconds of each other. Long took 33rd overall with a time of 28:19.9 while Sirilla took 34th with a time of 28:22.8 Crotteau crossed the line at 28:24.3 to take 35th and Stuckman finished 36th overall with a time of 28:25.7.

Junior Joe Gallagher wrapped up the scoring runners as he took 61st overall with a time of 29:31.0.

Franciscan will next compete at the All-Ohio Meet at Cedarville, OH in two weeks on September 30.
