The Lady Barons opened the day against a tough Capital team and struggled to find a rhythm but continued to battle and work hard. Franciscan fell to Capital by set scores of 25-10, 25-15, 25-15.

"I am just really proud of this team and their fight," remarked head coach Kelly Herrmann. "They face really great teams this weekend and never gave up."

Franciscan came out firing in the final match of the day for the Lady Barons against Wooster.

The Lady Barons jumped out to a 3-0 lead between two unforced Wooster errors and a Maddie Raffa service ace. After two straight points from Wooster cut the lead to 3-2, Franciscan rattled off three-straight to take a 6-2 lead. Wooster eventually took control of the set with a 13-7 lead. Franciscan chipped away and got as close as 21-19, but Wooster used a 4-1 run to close out the first set, 25-20.

Franciscan and Wooster battled through most of the first part of the second set until the score was knotted at 12-12. Ciola got the serve back for Franciscan with a kill off an assist from Theresa Moore and kicked off a 5-0 run for the Lady Barons to take a 17-12 lead. Franciscan never relinquished the lead and eventually took the second set, 25-21.

Franciscan took a 5-3 lead in the third set and after the score was tied at 9-9, Wooster used a 7-2 run to take a 16-11 lead. Wooster continued to build on their lead and eventually took the third set 25-21.

Wooster jumped out to a 19-6 lead quickly in the fourth and closed out the match with a 6-4 run to win the match.

"I think we just ran out of mental gas at the end," remarked Coach Herrmann. "We played really tough and hung in there with Wooster but we just ran out of gas."

The Lady Barons will play on their home court for the first time this season as they welcome Carnegie Mellon to Kuzma Court on Tuesday for a 7pm match.
