STEUBENVILLE – The Franciscan men's tennis team fell to non-conference opponent, Mount Union, 7-2 Friday afternoon at Belleview Courts.

Sophomore Aidan Howard (Irving, TX / Cambridge School) earned the first point of the match for the Barons as he took the first set at No. 5 singles, 7-6 and despite being down 5-3 in the second set, took the match win after a retirement by his opponent. Sophomore Giorgio Alexander (Wheeling, WV/Wheeling Central Catholic) earned the second point for Franciscan as he defeated his opponent 6-3, 6-1 at No. 4 singles.

Freshman Billy Presume and sophomore Christian Cappello each took their opponents to a third set tiebreak but ultimately fell to their Raider opponent. Presume won his first set, 6-2, at No. 3 singles but Antonio Massucci won 6-1, 10-5 to take the match. Capello dropped his first set 6-2 but came back and won 7-5 in the second set. Scott Fletch won 10-4 in the tiebreak to take the No. 6 singles match.

The Barons dropped all three doubles matches as Mount Union carried its 3-0 lead into singles action.
Franciscan returns to action next Friday as the Barons host a dual match against Muskingum with the women's tennis team at 4:30 pm.
