STEUBENVILLE - Despite a strong fourth quarter effort, the Lady Barons fell to the Panthers 77-51 Saturday afternoon.
After a quick start by Pitt-Bradford,
Abby Baierl hit a three-pointer giving the Lady Barons some momentum. For the next eight minutes Franciscan matched each basket made by Pitt-Bradford. In the final minute of the first quarter the Panthers scored eight points, putting them ahead by 10 entering the second quarter with a score of 24-14.

Rose Judge halted the Panthers. The Lady Barons continued to match each point that the Panthers made, attempting to keep their lead within 12. Pitt-Bradford stretched their lead to 22 with a set of offensive rebounds and jump-shots inside the paint. The score was 46-27 to close out the first half.

Angela Starre set the Lady Barons up for a strong offensive half. Some key layups kept Franciscan within 20, but Pitt-Bradford did not hesitate to continue to dominate offensively. The Lady Barons ended the third quarter trailing the Panthers 63-38.
The Panthers quickly stretched their lead to 34 points after a nine-point scoring run in the first five minutes of the fourth quarter. Senior Reagan Stead hit a three-pointer to start the Lady Barons final quarter rally. Starre followed Stead's lead with a good layup in the paint, and also contributed a free throw after being fouled on her made basket. After a foul and a turnover, Stead hit another three pointer. Tessa Crider and Cianna Vaughn helped the Lady Barons reach a total of thirteen points for the quarter. The final score was 77-51, the Panthers.
The Lady Barons shot 30.2% from the floor and had 43 boards. Reagan Stead was the leading scorer with 15 points. Freshman
Angela Starre had her first double-double of the season with 12 rebounds and 13 points.
The Franciscan Lady Barons are on the road for their next game against Mt. St. Joseph on Monday, December 17 at 3 PM.
