ALFRED, NY – In a duel against Alfred State College, the Lady Barons came up short 223-56 against the Pioneers.
The Lady Barons took third in both relays. For the 400-yard medley, Emily Allsteadt, Abby Commarford, Elizabeth McNulty, and Shannon Wieszczek came in [third] with a time of 5:04.64, while the 400-yard freestyle team, composed of Katherine Kennedy, Rachael June, Katherine Racca, and Maya Staton came in [third] with a time of 5:17.14.
Allsteadt secured second in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 13:11.70. In the 500-yard freestyle Allsteadt took fourth (6:34.87) with Commarford close behind, taking fifth (7:23.99). Commarford took fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:35.25, followed by Kennedy in fifth (1:38.29), and Bernadette DiMaria in sixth (2:06.24). In the 50-yard breaststroke DiMaria had a fourth-place finish with a time of 56.52.
Staton secured fourth in both the 200-yard freestyle (2:41.08), with Kennedy taking fifth (2:43.53) and Racca taking sixth (2:55.87), and 50-yard backstroke (42.84) with June taking fifth (43.59). For the 50-yard freestyle Wieszczek secured third with a time of 30.11 and Racca took fifth with a time of 35.91. Later, Wieszczek took fourth in the 100-yard freestyle (1:09.98), with June closed behind in fifth (1:20.86), and Marguerite Stonier in sixth (1:27.20).
Stonier and McNulty competed in the 50-yard butterfly, where McNulty clinched first with a time of 29.61 and Stonier took fifth with a time of 56.12. McNulty also clinched first in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:05.32.
For diving, Sarah Tohill took second in the 1-meter dive event, earning a score of 158.32. Tohill would later take second in the 3-mether dive event with a score of 160.05.
The Lady Barons return to the pool for the AMCC Championships, held February 14th-17th in Erie, PA.
