Box Score ERIE, Pa. - The Barons defeated the No. 4 seed in AMCC semifinals postseason play, advancing to the tournament's final round with a 5-0 victory.
Senior captain Jarek Sulak paired with sophomore Jake Haffner at the No. 1 doubles spot, where they wasted no time in registering an 8-0 victory. Smart tennis gave the duo chances at the net, to finish points on their own terms.
One court over, seniors John Gallagher and Connor Jooste surrendered only a game en route to a straightforward 8-1 win. The Barons saved two break points on Gallagher's serve to eventually take the opening game; Gallagher would serve out the match up 7-1, for the 8-1 victory, assisted by Jooste's productive net efforts.
At the No. 3 doubles spot, sophomore Jack Galla and freshman Luke Conrad accrued a 7-0 lead, behind deep service returns and volley putaways. Greensburg held serve after the changeover, before Conrad served out the match for the 8-1 win, keeping the duo perfect in conference doubles play for the season.
Franciscan turned in a 3-0 lead at the conclusion of doubles play, in a matchup to be played only to five overall match wins.
After Gallagher won a quick 6-0, 6-0 No. 3 singles match on the third court, eyes turned to court one, where Haffner was wrapping up a concise No. 1 singles match.
Haffner turned in an efficient service performance, eventually capping a 6-0, 6-0 win with a break of serve. After the conclusion of Haffner's matchup-clinching singles win, the play was stopped on all courts, putting a 5-0 Franciscan semifinals victory.
