Lady Barons Roll in Regular Season Finale

WILMINGTON – The Franciscan women's lacrosse team ended its regular season on a high note as the Lady Barons rolled to an 18-8 win over Wilmington, Sunday afternoon.

After Wilmington got on the board just 39 seconds into the game, the Lady Barons rattled off three straight goals, including two from junior Carly McDonald and a free position goal from freshman Maria Hilkert. Becca Petra sandwiched a pair of goals around senior Mary Krolicki's first goal of the game and her 144th of her career as the Quakers trimmed the lead to 4-3 with 11:22 to play. Junior Treise McCarthy kicked off a five-goal run in the final 10 minutes of the first half for the Lady Barons. Four different players scored a goal for Franciscan in that stretch, including a pair of strikes from McDonald.

McDonald got the scoring going in the second half as well as she found the back of the net for the fifth time in the game. Franciscan pushed its lead to 10-3 with 27:55 to go in regulation. The Quakers used a short 3-0 burst to cut the lead down to four, but Krolicki's free position goal at 18:51 kicked off a four-goal sprint to push the Lady Baron lead back to 14-6 with 15:13 to play. The Quakers answered in turn with back-to-back goals but Franciscan closed out the game with four unanswered goals to seal the 18-8 win.

McDonald led the Lady Barons with five goals while McCarthy, Krolicki, and Blair Wonderly each recorded three.Krolicki's three goals push her career total to 149 while she now has 170 points in her four years in a Franciscan uniform. Krolicki has scored in all but two games in which she has played and in 47-straight contests.

Hilkert finished the day with a goal and three assists while junior Elizabeth McEntee posted a pair of goals and three assists on the day.

Junior goalie Brittany Bain recorded 10 saves in the win.

Franciscan sits at 7-6 for the season and awaits a potential bid to the ECAC tournament.
