Barons Take Sixth at Notre Dame

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The Franciscan men's cross country team turned in an impressive showing at the National Catholic Invitational as the Barons placed sixth out of 18 DII/DIII teams.

Sophomore Liam Galligan set his personal best time in a five-mile race as he finished third among the DII/DIII runners and 23rd overall with a time of 25:50.5. Classmate Mark Borek was just two seconds off his personal best as he took 32nd in his division and 91st overall with a time of 27:25.46.

Senior Nicholas Long posted a personal best for the 5-mile race as he finished at 28:01.4 and was 49th in the DII/DIII division. Not far behind was junior Grady Stuckman with a personal-best time as well as he crossed the line at 28:05.0 and came in 52nd for the Barons. Sophomore Athanasius Sirilla was the final scoring runner for the Barons with a time of 28:46.7 as he came in 62nd in the Barons' division.

Freshman Michael Sorbus was the final runner for the Barons as he took 100th in the DII/DIII division with a time of 31:28.33.

The Barons return to action next weekend at home as Franciscan hosts its invitational in Steubenville on Saturday, September 22.
