Lady Barons Roll to Sixth-Straight Win

STEUBENVILLE – The Franciscan women's tennis team has not dropped a point in an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference match since the 2016 season as the Lady Barons rolled to a 9-0 win over Penn St.-Behrend, Friday afternoon.

The Lady Barons dropped just four games all match, only one in doubles, in route to their 23rd-straight regular-season AMCC victory dating back to the 2015 season.

Senior Maria Binette and junior Madelyn Conrad turned in an 8-0 win at No. 1 doubles while seniors Julia Razook and Taranee Karimpour also shutout their opponent 8-0 at No. 3 doubles. Junior Grace Hammel and sophomore Ana Maria Victoria Haddad dropped just one game, the only game either of them would drop for the match – including singles play – as the duo posted an 8-1 win at No. 2 doubles.

Conrad won her first set at No. 1 singles, 6-1, before shutting out her opponent 6-0 in her final set of the day. Binette, Haddad, Hammel, and Karimpour all swept their opponents 6-0, 6-0. Razook won her No. 4 singles match 6-2, 6-0 to help secure the 9-0 victory for the Lady Barons.

Franciscan has won 11-straight 9-0 matches against AMCC teams, dating back to the 2017 season.

Franciscan returns to the court next Friday as the Lady Barons will travel to Penn St.-Altoona for an AMCC matchup at 3:30 pm.
