Box Score ALTOONA, Pa. – The Franciscan women's tennis team won its 24th-straight Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference regular season match as the Lady Barons took down Penn St.-Altoona, 8-1, Friday afternoon.
The defending AMCC champions opened the match with a 3-0 lead after doubles play. Senior Maria Binette and junior Madelyn Conrad continue to shine at the No. 1 spot as the duo won 8-3. Junior Grace Hammel and sophomore Ana Victoria Maria Haddad are running on all cylinders as the two won 8-2 at No. 2 spot and have not dropped a doubles match this season today. Senior Julia Razook and freshman Antonia Mysyk have also found their rhythm with an 8-4 win at No. 3 doubles.
Razook turned in the only perfect match in singles as she swept her opponent 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4 singles. Freshman Zoey Stapleton and Hammel each won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 6 and No. 5 singles, respectively. Haddad competed well at No. 3 singles and picked up a 6-2, 6-1 win while Binette played a competitive match at No. 2. Binette battled to a 7-5 win in the opening set before working a 6-1 win to seal the match win. Conrad dropped the only singles match of the day as she fell to a tough Lions opponent, 6-3, 6-4, at No. 1 singles.
The Lady Barons have little time to rest as they travel to Mount Aloysius on Saturday for an 11:00 am AMCC contest.
